This
chapter is saying that we all admire speakers who can put showmanship into
their speaking, who are not afraid to express themselves, not afraid to use the
unique, individual, imaginative way of saying what they have to say to the audience.
It
also reminds me of one of my old co-workers who’s name is Rick Spence. He worked
as Video Director and you probably will notice him as well, because he used to be
a host of HGTV’s Curb Appeal.
He
was a someone who can put showmanship into their speaking and his attitude is
very different in general. It is very distinct from others and it is very noticeable.
There
is something besides the mere words in a talk which counts and it is like the
flavor with which they are delivered. I think it is like art. The tiny
difference is the matter of painting and speaking is the same thing.
This
paragraph said “A young man ought to get that idea about himself; he should
look for the single spark of individuality that makes him different from other
folks, and develop that for all he is worth. But don’t let that spark be lost
and it is your only real claim to importance. You have an individuality and it
is the most precious possession.”
