Play yourself Down

“ He never tried to dazzle people with his exclusive knowledge. He merely tried to enlighten them with his inclusive sympathy. Audience senses speaker’s genuine passion for a topic and they will hang on every word while they may thirst for your knowledge. It is your inherent enthusiasm that will make you the light bulb in the room that draws everyone forward “
The key takeaway is that if we have this inclusive sympathy, we can open the door to the audience’s heart and make the audience a partner in the talk. In other words, if I play down something, I can try to make people believe that it is not particularly important and of course, nothing will take the place of sincerity in this speaker and audience relationship.
One of the best ways for a speaker to endear himself to an audience is to play himself down and sharing the talk with the audience.
