Making the talk to convince

This chapter is talking about how to convince an audience by talking. One story is about a young man who wanted an audience to support a cancer research center, because his brother passed away of cancer and he started talking like this “Look around you and look at one another. Do you know how many of you sitting now in this room are going to die of cancer?”. One in 4 of all of you who are over 45.
And then he paused and said “Something can be done about it. This something is progress in the treatment of cancer and in the search for its cause”. If you are in that situation, who is going to say “NO” to this question?
Getting a favorable reaction is every speaker’s objective anytime and anywhere. He had on his side in the campaign he was waging for a humanitarian cause.
Another way is to win the confidence of the audience and it is necessary to set forth our own ideas with the inner glow that comes from sincere conviction. Also, we must first be convinced before we attempt to convince others.
A lot of salesmen can use these techniques, because they have a clear object and a goal to convince the audience. Also, It is important to convince themselves before they attempt, otherwise, the audience can see that  they are not sincere.
