< Talk in terms of the other person’s interests >
One
story was about someone who has been trying to sell bread to a certain New York
hotel and He called on the manager every week for 4 years. He went to the same
social affairs the manager attended. He even took rooms in the hotel and lived
there in order to get the business. But He FAILED.
“
then,” he decided to find out what interested this man and what caught his
enthusiasm. After he found out his interest, he began talking about the
Greeters which was his interest. What a response! He talked for 1/5 hour about
the Greeters and his tones were vibrant with enthusiasm. In the meantime, he
didn’t say anything about bread and a few days later, he got a call from the
hotel that they were interested in buying bread from him.
Talking in terms of the other person’s interests pays off for both
parties and It also reminds me that some people decorate their office with a variety
of items, because it shows their interest and If someone swings by and sees the
person’s interest or finds out the common things, it can be a good conversation
with a strong connection. There are many ways to reach the goals or destination
and depends on the path that you choose, it becomes a short cut to achieve your
goals or a long way to get there
